Accounting

Accounting is an essential component of every business. Accounting provides a financial picture of a business, assisting managers in decision-making, keeping investors informed of their investment, and monitoring the business profitability. Our program will teach students to track, analyze and communicate the financial operations of multinational corporations and small businesses. The Accounting program at MSJC opens the door to many exciting careers in the accounting field and provides core courses transferable to universities.

Accounting Related Degrees & Certificates

Business Administration Degree (60 units)	This is the general business degree, however if your focus is Accounting you can take all your electives in Accounting.
Certificate in Business Administration (24 units)	You can obtain a general business foundation and complete all your electives in Accounting.
Accounting & Tax Preparation Concentration (16 units)	Taxes! If you are interested in tax preparation, this concentration is for you. It emphasizes accounting and tax theory.
Accounting Applications Concentration (9 units)	This concentration exposes students to accounting theory and to two popular accounting software programs: QuickBooks and Peachtree.

ACCT 076 - Bookkeeping 1:
Theory

Start with the essential elements of bookkeeping theory.

ACCT 077 - Bookkeeping 2:
Quickbooks

Apply Accounting theory to QuickBooks.

Together, these courses will prepare students for a variety of entry-level accounting positions by teaching bookkeeping skills within the QuickBooks environment.

ACCT 081 – General Concepts Concerning Corporate Taxation

ACCT 082 – General Concepts Concerning Partnership Taxation
